The
Whistler area is home to several species of salmonids including
rainbow trout, Dolly
Varden char, cutthroat trout,
steelhead and five species of salmon.
The following information will give the novice fisherperson some
background on habit and habitat. Knowing what a fish species needs
to survive is half the battle.
What
do all fish need?
All
fish have basic requirements. They are shelter, food,
temperature, and oxygen. If one of these requirements
is not met, there are no fish to be found. Assessing whether these
requirements are met will result in fishing the right holes and
therefore increase your catch.
Read on! More requirements below!
This list is given in the form "common name" and "Genus
species". For more information on each fish species,
